    The Montgomery County Stroke Association, Inc. (MCSA)
    is a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization
    established in 1981 in Montgomery County, Maryland,
    to provide help and hope to stroke survivors and their family caregivers.
    MCSA has four local chapters which meet monthy.

    The dual mission of the Montgomery County Stroke Association
    is to offer helpful information and caring support
    to stroke survivors and their family caregivers,
    and to promote stroke awareness in the community.

Stroke is the 3rd leading cause of death in the U.S.
Stroke is the leading cause of adult disability in the U.S.
Approximately 800,000 strokes will occur in the U.S. this year.
Approximately 80% of all strokes are preventable.
Know the risk factors for stroke -- and lower your risk of having a stroke.
Know the warning signs of stroke -- and call 9-1-1 if they occur!

DO YOU KNOW THE WARNING SIGNS OF STROKE?

Call 9-1-1 if you see any of the symptoms listed below:

* Sudden onset of numbness or weakness of the face, arm, or leg,
especially on one side of the body;
* Sudden onset of confusion, or difficulty speaking or understanding;
* Sudden onset of difficulty seeing in one eye or both eyes;
* Sudden onset of dizziness, loss of balance or coordination, or difficulty walking;
* Sudden onset of severe headache with no known cause.
