Silver Spring Chapter to meet on 1st Tuesday MORNINGS instead of evenings
|
After meeting on first Tuesday evenings at the Schweinhaut Center for nearly 24 years, the Silver Spring Chapter has changed its meeting time to first Tuesday MORNINGS starting February 1, 2005.
Starting at 10:30 a.m., guests will be welcomed, announcements will be made, and a stroke education or entertainment program will be presented.
Anyone who wishes to join us for lunch at the Schweinhaut Center after the meeting ends is welcome to do so, but you must make your reservation at least 24 hours in advance by calling 301-681-1255.
Location: Margaret Schweinhaut Senior Center, 1000 Forest Glen Road, Silver Spring, MD
These meetings are free and open to the public.
CAUTION: Meeting dates and times are subject to change based on other scheduled events, bad weather, etc. If the Montgomery County (Md.) School System is closed due to inclement weather, the Senior Center will also be closed and MCSA meetings will be canceled for that day. Be sure to confirm the meeting date and time before going to a scheduled event. You may do so by checking the "Calendar" listings on the MCSA website, reading our monthly Communique' newsletter, or calling either the Schweinhaut Center (301-681-1255) or the MCSA (301-681-6272).

Starting in February of 2005, when the Silver Spring Chapter shifted its meeting time to Tuesday mornings instead of Tuesday evenings, the monthly Caregiver Support Group was scheduled for 9:30 a.m. (one hour before the 10:30 a.m. General Meeting program). However, attendance at the 9:30 a.m. Caregiver Support Group has been too low to warrant continuation. Therefore, the Silver Spring Chapter has decided not to offer its Caregiver Support Group until further notice.
Other options are being explored, such as offering the Caregiver Support Group at a different time or day or location, offering a Stroke Survivor Support Group instead of a Caregiver Support Group (also at a different time, day, or place), and finding a volunteer counselor -- so that costs are not prohibitive when attendance is low.
If you have any suggestions or comments, please let us know. Call the MCSA at 301-681-6272, or reply to this message, or send an e-mail message to info@mcstroke.org.
