Stroke Folks   "Stroke Folks" is the name of a small, friendly stroke support and socialization group sponsored by the Gaithersburg Upcounty Senior Center (phone: 301-258-6380; address: 80-A Bureau Drive, Gaithersburg, MD 20878). The "Stroke Folks" meet on Thursdays from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Gaithersburg Upcounty Senior Center. Activities feature roundtable discussions, which include sharing of recent or upcoming events, health-related topics, and mind-stimulating strategies, followed by lunch prepared by the Center's chef. For more information about "Stroke Folks," please call Anne McDonnell at 301-869-1580. Some members of the "Stroke Folks" have formed an "Aphasia Community Group" which meets on Mondays from 10:00 a.m. to noon and on Thursdays from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. to help each other communicate.
